他是英籍华人，与金庸、陈香梅同获“世界杰出华人奖”；身为亿万富翁，他连一台像样的小车也舍不得买；他向祖国捐赠文物、藏品5万余件，价值超过8亿元（其实远远不止这个价，赵泰来先生捐赠的总长度近32米的古运河图长卷以及近千幅唐宋元明清的画作，可能已经超过这个价）睿云网 ，其中包括赠给广州艺术博物院藏品1万多件，捐给番禺宝墨园的文物和艺术品达20个集装箱掌控丧尸。为了让文物漂洋过海回到中国“娘家”，他卖掉伦敦的4处住宅当作运费。
23岁拥有大笔财富
“1977年，姨妈偷偷告诉我，在香港和欧洲有一批遗产要我继承，再三交代：不能对外泄露一个字!”这批神秘的遗产，让赵泰来多少有点紧张。
1979年，赵泰来开始接受大姨妈在香港的财产寿光一中，除了数千万的房屋和产业之外，还有大量的收藏品，整整堆满了两层楼面，看得赵泰来目瞪口呆。
“孩子，这只是极少的一部分，在欧洲的一个地窖里，会让你更加大开眼界洪荒大盗 。”大姨妈让赵泰来做好充分的心理准备，以免到时候乐极生悲被“吓”坏。
1981年春天，赵泰来接到去英国接受遗产的通知。伦敦郊外有一处巨大的庄园，是赵氏家族80多年前购买的。赵泰来拿着藏宝图费了很大周折，才在庄园的一个隐秘处找到了那个地窖的入口处。大大小小难以计数的木箱，一直堆到门口。赵泰来打开几只靠近门口长虫发霉的木箱，掀起稻草和棉花，里面全是古书画、陶瓷、玉器、铜器……
赵泰来不知道地窖究竟有多大，里面到底装了多少箱宝物，但擅长文物鉴赏的赵泰来知道，这个尘封闭世的地窖是一个灿烂绚丽的历史画卷。这些宝物大多是曾外祖父伍廷芳所珍藏，伍廷芳是清末驻美国、秘鲁等国的大使，民国成立后任司法总长、外交总长、代总理，风云—世声名。家族藏品经三代人不断收藏补充，传到赵泰来手上逾6万件之多。

住着豪宅的“破烂王”
赵泰来没想到，为了揭开地窖中尘封的历史，他竟要整整干上10年苦力，变成一个住高级别墅的“超级乞丐”。
为了抢救家族留下来的宝藏，赵泰来搁下了心爱的绘画事业，1992年移居伦敦，加入英籍，做起了“地下工作者”。因为害怕走漏风声而招致杀身之祸，他甚至连心爱的妻子都不敢告诉，更不敢请人帮忙，只能每天像蚂蚁搬家一样，一件件地将宝藏从地窖里扛出来，每天都累得汗流浃背。
一次，他在找一个战国时期的青铜器时，不慎被其坠下砸伤了左脚，造成5个脚趾粉碎性骨折，脚肿得像面包，住院1个多月才康复。在另一次清理中，牙齿被碰掉了几颗，直到现在他还安着假牙。
对赵泰来来说，每天的清理工作还非常危险，除了天天担心被人发现外，还得时时处处防着动物的攻击。因为尘封了80多年的宝藏地窖里有老鼠、毒蛇和不知名的动物。有次他在搬运木箱时，从箱底冷不防窜出一条银环蛇，幸好赵泰来躲闪及时，否则银环蛇一口便会夺去他的性命。
搬到自家住宅别墅的文物一天天增多，赵泰来不敢请保姆和保安人员，害怕泄露秘密。为了确保文物安全，赵泰来养了4条凶悍猎犬守家护宝。
清理出来的文物还需要包装，可英国物价高昂，一块包装泡沫就卖4英镑。为了节约开支，他就几乎天天出去找包装材料。“一看到卖家私的，我就高兴，可以去捡人家丢掉的包装。我当时很出名wow增强萨满，周围的人都以为我是捡破烂的，可住着豪宅捡破烂，好奇怪!”想起当年的窘境，赵泰来不禁莞尔。
原本以为数月就可完成的清理工作一干就是10年。其间，他每天坚持记日记，对经手的文物一件件登记造册。而整理那些文物，光包装材料就花了几十万英镑。不同朝代的唐卡珍品、南朝时代的赵青釉四耳、明代的青花鱼藻纹鱼缸……一件件艺术瑰宝重见天日。赵泰来在欣慰的同时双归雁明月珰 ，心中的压力也越来越大：该如何处理这6万件宝物呢？
37岁，他捐出祖传的文物
上世纪80年代，赵泰来认识了新华社香港分社摄影记者唐理奎陈掖贤 ，两人成了好友枭之城。“这么多好东西，你保管也难，不如捐给国内有能力收藏的博物馆吧三勒浆 。”唐理奎劝他堃怎么读。这话说到了赵泰来的心坎里。他想，与其自己留着不如给更多的老百姓欣赏。捐!赵泰来又踏上了10年的运送、捐赠之路。到了1991年，也就是他37岁那年，赵泰来分两次向江苏省盐城博物馆捐赠各类文物共853件，又向中国历史博物馆捐赠清代名家书画作品32件。
粗略统计一下，迄今他已向国内各大博物馆捐赠文物5万多件。家中自曾外祖父伍廷芳起三代人不断充实收藏的文物，基本被他捐光了。
赵泰来捐出的文物估价约8亿元，其实，有些文物，其价值又怎能用钱来衡量劳斯莱斯银云？他捐赠的西藏唐卡，泽北荣治论质量、品级仅次于拉萨布达拉宫的收藏。“爷爷、外公都喜欢收藏唐卡，最早一幅是晚唐时期的。”
为了把这些文物运送回国，赵泰来卖了伦敦的4处别墅当做路费。他还自费到日本，花上百万元把唐卡裱好后再捐出。因担心青铜器在南方潮湿的环境中氧化，他亲自做防氧化处理。

“好太太，谢谢你”
1982年，28岁的赵泰来与年轻貌美的阿芳女士走上婚姻的红地毯。婚后，赵泰来与太太的感情非常好，并达成了默契：两人终生不孕，做“丁克家庭”。
秘密继承大姨妈财产这件事，赵泰来连妻子也瞒着，因为担心娇妻知道太多会危及她的人身安全。那些文物贩子和黑道人物一旦知道宝藏之事，极有可能会采取绑架、杀人等各种手段掠夺。
1991年春，赵泰来终于决定告诉妻子真相。“太太，有件事我对您隐瞒了9年。”赵泰来对阿芳说，“你要做好心理准备，我们家的那些破铜烂铁能买下英国的一个小镇。”阿芳的回答令赵泰来非常吃惊：“这个我早就知道，虽然我不太懂文物鉴赏，但我早知道你是世界上最贫穷的亿万富翁。”赵泰来这才知道妻子对他的“地下工作”早就心知肚明三伏贴多少钱，装聋卖傻实际上是在默默地支持着丈夫的事业。赵泰来一把抱住阿芳，双眼潮湿。“情人节里我只需要你的一枝玫瑰花和一盒巧克力，其他东西我一件不要。”宝藏浮出水面后，阿芳当即向丈夫表示，“再宝贵的财富都是身外之物，生不带来死不带去，我一生只想和你做平民夫妻。”妻子的一席真情表白令赵泰来豁然开朗，困扰他多年的“心病”突然发现了药方。
捐宝路上遭遇亲情危机
听说赵泰来要把这些海外的宝藏捐献给国家，赵泰来的叔叔、姐姐、妹妹、堂哥等一起涌上门，对赵泰来兴师问罪，说他“神经不正常”，阻止他将祖传下来的藏品无偿捐献，并纷纷放出狠话：如果赵泰来一意孤行，赵家所有亲人统统与他断绝关系。赵泰来顿时陷入四面楚歌的境地。
就在赵泰来陷入极度苦闷、甚至思想动摇之际，太太阿芳始终站在他一边，鼓励丈夫坚强挺过难关。此时的阿芳帮助老公做了两件事：她一边通过唐理奎牵线搭桥，联系国内博物馆接受捐赠，又一边从中协调赵氏家族紧张关系，将受孤立和排斥的丈夫送回大家庭。在妻子的调停下，赵泰来将自己的小部分宝藏分给了家族所有的人，终于化解了一场亲情危机。
后来，赵泰来捐赠给广州艺术博物院藏品达1万多件，其中近千件是国家一级、二级文物。这只是他10年来捐赠的很少一部分。在广州番禺宝墨园，他捐赠的文物和艺术品达20个集装箱。
对于赵泰来的举动，许多人不理解，甚至有人说他“神经不正常”，赵泰来都一笑了之，他说道： 人生很短暂，钱不是很重要，够用就行了，能够做一些事，这才是人生的乐趣。
如今的他过着简单的生活，坐公共汽车，买减价衣服，吃粗茶淡饭！看着全国各地聚集来的观众，欣赏着自己捐出的文物，他感觉很自豪！
